What is SixToOne?
SixToOne is a voice calling app that allows users to charge for their calls on a per-minute basis.
What sets SixToOne apart from other monetized call systems out there?
SixToOne is the only platform that allows for monetized calls without the need to book timeslots in advance.
This is especially useful for individuals and businesses that: have a flexible schedule, would prefer to avoid extra hoops involved in scheduling pre-booked timeslots, have a lot of potential callers, or want to offer VIP clients 24/7 access to contacting them.
What do I need to do to start charging for my calls?
Getting started is simple and quick:
1) First, download the app from Google Play (Android) or the App Store (iOS).
2) Then, link the bank account you’d like to receiving your earnings on by creating a Stripe account or linking an existing account if you already have one. Stripe is the payment processor that processes your callers’ payments (e.g. credit cards) and then sends the money to your bank account.
3) Next, set the amount you’d like to earn per minute on calls and you’re good to go.
You can then copy your Call Link or simply share your SixToOne ID to your clients/social media pages. When they open your link, it will open up their SixToOne app with your ID already filled in the call section–all they need to do is press Call. If they do not have the app installed, it will go to the app download page. Once they call you and you answer the call, you will start earning by the minute.
How much does it cost to use SixToOne?
We take a 6% cut of your earnings from each call. You will also receive a standard transaction fee of 2.9% + $0.30 per call/transaction from Stripe for processing credit card payments from your callers. As an example, if you earned $60 at the end of your call, you can expect a deduction of $5.64 and you will receive $54.36.
Do I lose money if a call earns less than $0.30 then?
No, you will not earn a negative amount for a call. If your call ends before it reaches $0.50 (e.g. if you charge $0.15 per minute and the call only lasts 2 minutes, which equals only $0.30), then you will earn nothing and your caller will not be charged.
Do I need to be American or Canadian to use the app?
In order to charge for your calls, you need a US or Canadian Stripe and bank account. This would typically require you to an American or Canadian or have the documentation needed to open such accounts. However if you are using the app to make calls, you do not need to be American or Canadian. As of the initial app launch it is available in United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Australia, and New Zealand with more coming in the upcoming weeks.
Do my clients need to install SixToOne to call me?
Yes, they will need to have the app installed (see next question for the best way to do this).
What is the best way to offer the option for my clients to call me on SixToOne?
The best and simplest way is to share SixToOne Call Link with them or put it on your Email Signature, Social Media Accounts, Business Cards, etc… When someone opens the call link, it will open up the SixToOne app with your ID already filled in the call page. If they do not have the app, the link will bring them to the app download page. Example of implementation in your email signature or social media profile: “You can reach me at: sixtoone.app/call/?user=YOUR_ID”
How come on my Stripe dashboard where it shows the earnings, all the completed transactions say a large amount with “partially reversed” beside it?
Because of the nature of how the payment process works (i.e. pre-authorizing a 1-hour session on your caller’s credit card and then recalculating the final amount at the end of the call to adjust for the actual duration), your dashboard will always show your 1 hour rate. For example, if you charge $5 per minute, your transactions will always show $300 ($5 per minute x 60 minutes) with “partially reversed” beside it. View the details of the transactions to see the actual earnings for the call.
Our future updates will include a more intuitive log of your earnings within the app itself to make it less confusing.
Do I get paid by SixToOne?
No, transactions are made directly from your caller’s credit card to your Stripe account through Stripe Connect.
Is there a risk to not getting money after a call?
A pre-authorization for a 1-hour session is made before the start of all calls to ensure you receive your money after a call. If the credit card declines, the call will not go through.
That being said, criminals, hackers, and stolen credit cards are a thing that is unavoidable in any business. While it’s highly unlikely for a stolen credit card to be used for a phone call versus all the other things criminals could use it for, if you do decide share your SixToOne ID to people outside of your clients to whom you’ve met before, such as on your social media channels, you do so while acknowledging the risk that anyone could make a call to you using a stolen card that will later be charged back. That being said, Stripe’s guarantee may reimburse you with chargebacks due to fraudulent payment methods that manage to get past their detection/authentication process. If this happens to you, contacting the Stripe support team may be worthwhile.
When will the money I earn show up in my bank account?
This can vary depending on your payout settings when setting up your Stripe account. You can change payout frequency to daily, weekly, monthly, or custom through your Stripe dashboard. Typically there will also be an additional few business days delay between your payout and it showing up in your bank—depending on which bank you use.
Is SixToOne my employer?
No, unlike service-oriented/marketplace platforms like Uber, eBay, and Airbnb which manage funds and operations on their end before paying you, SixToOne is a tool (like Shopify or Zoom) that connects you with your own customers by offering a solution for them to pay you easily.
What do I need to be aware of since SixToOne is not my employer?
Transactions made through SixToOne go directly from the caller to you, giving you full control and responsibility over your business operations. Since SixToOne is not your employer, you are 100% in charge of running your business, which includes:
Handling customer service issues: You are responsible for addressing inquiries, resolving disputes, and maintaining positive relationships with your customers.
Screening customers: Conduct due diligence to ensure you are comfortable working with those who contact you, as you are accountable for managing your interactions.
Ensuring payment reliability: Payments are processed directly via Stripe, a trusted platform. While Stripe provides support for handling disputes, chargebacks, and fraudulent activity, you should remain proactive in monitoring transactions.
Managing your obligations: This includes setting your rates, delivering services professionally, and adhering to any legal, financial, or tax-related responsibilities tied to running your business.
SixToOne provides the tools to facilitate payments and streamline your operations, but ultimately, the success of your business depends on your diligence, professionalism, and commitment to delivering value to your customers.
How does income taxes and IRS reporting work?
Since our app serves as a tool to help our users facilitate transactions through Stripe and do not handle the money in any way, we do not report earnings to the IRS for users who earn under $20,000 in a calendar year. However, we are still required to submit 1099-K forms for users who earn a gross amount of $20,000 or more over 200 transactions or calls. If you earn between $600 and $20,000 in a calendar year, you are still legally obligated to report that income to the IRS.

How do I report my taxes?
You have 2 options to report your taxes:
1) The traditional way: At the end of the year, go to your Stripe dashboard and export a summary of your total earnings to use in filing your income taxes.
2) The convenient way: Stripe offers tools that will help you automate your taxes, which you can set up in the Stripe dashboard by clicking “More” and then “Tax”.

Are my conversations safe?
Our app uses ZegoCloud’s secure platform to power voice calls. ZegoCloud is a trusted service provider offering high-quality, TLS-encrypted communication infrastructure. While no system can be completely immune to threats, TLS encryption used by ZegoCloud is generally considered stronger than the encryption employed in standard mobile phone calls.
Please note: As with any phone call or voice communication service, the other party may have the ability to record the conversation.
What is Stripe and why do I need it?
Stripe is the payment processor that verifies and processes the caller’s credit card and/or other payment methods as well as being the intermediary where your earnings are stored before being sent to your bank account. You only need Stripe if you are the consultant charging for your calls—callers do not need Stripe.
Sometimes the app doesn’t open when I press the notification to accept the call.
This happens on Android devices if you do now have the “allow app the show up over other apps” permission enabled. If you cannot find where to enable it, you can simply delete and re-download the app. When you first sign in, it will ask you for that permission again, once you accept, it will bring you to the page for that setting. Look for SixToOne on the list and enable it. This is only required on Android and not required for iOS.
Does SixToOne use my phone number to make calls?
No, SixToOne uses a VoIP system and requires an active internet connection (either through wifi or your phone’s data) to make and receive calls. Calls are made with your SixToOne ID and not your phone number.
What if I lose internet connection during the call?
If you lose internet connection during a call, as long as the other person doesn’t hang up, you will have up to 2 minutes to reconnect before the call ends automatically.
As a caller, how do I know if the person I’m calling is really who they say they are?
You cannot. If you are calling someone that did not give your their SixToOne ID or Call Link personally, you need to make sure you are getting it from a trusted source such as their official website or a verified social media account and not a fake one. Since SixToOne does not have the power to reverse any payments, you need to do your due diligence to prevent yourself from getting scammed.
As a caller, can I get my money back from a call I made?
Unfortunately, after you make a call, money is transferred directly from you to the recipient through Stripe, just as if you were purchasing from the recipient directly. Since we do not hold on to the money at any point, we do not have the power to stop or reverse any of these payments—we are simply the platform for users to make calls and send money on. However, if you are unsatisfied with the service you were given by the recipient of the call, you can always reach out to them directly to see if you can come up with a resolution.
Is my payment/credit card information safe on the platform?
Yes, all payment information is encrypted and stored on Stripe’s servers (not ours) to ensure your information is safe and secured. Even in the event of a data breach, your payment information will be safe in one of the world’s most reputable payment processor’s server, with the latest and best protection.
My call ended by itself, what happened?
Our system is set up for a maximum of 60 minutes per call. If your call reaches 60 minutes (1 hour), it will end automatically. Additionally, if you manually adjust your system time during a call, it may also end the call.
I or One of my clients is unable to use the app and seeing an “Integrity Check Failed” screen.
To maintain a secure and trusted environment for payments and data, our app requires devices to meet certain security standards. This includes ensuring the device is not rooted or jailbroken and that the system integrity has not been compromised.
If you or your client encounters this screen, they may be using a device that does not meet these criteria. Please advise them to use the app on a device with unaltered factory settings and the latest official operating system updates.
Clients are saying payment failed and they are unable to call me but they can use their credit card for other purchases.
One possibility a payment could fail even if the payment method works is if your Stripe account is deactivated or paused.
If you haven’t used your Stripe account for a while or did not finish your setup process, you may need to log in to your dashboard to see if you have any warnings to update personal information and/or to agree to any new terms and conditions before you can continue to accept payments.
Should I charge my calls in USD or CAD?
In general, it’s best to charge in the currency of your country to avoid conversion fees and maximize your earnings. This way, your callers will be responsible for any conversion fees when paying in a different currency.
However, if you are based in Canada and have callers from around the world, you may choose to charge in USD since USD is more widely recognized globally–which could make it easier for clients to connect with you. Keep in mind, though, that if you choose USD while your Stripe account is a Canadian one, your Stripe payout will have an added conversion fee when it converts the received USD to CAD before sending it to your bank.
As a caller, what can I expect to see on my credit card statement with SixToOne calls?
Your credit card will not show “SixToOne” but will instead show the individual or business name of the person you call. This is the “Statement Descriptor” name they used for their business when setting up their Stripe accounts.
SixToOne does not handle any payments. All payments are sent directly from the caller to the recipient through Stripe Connect.
As a consultant, how should I set up my Stripe Connect account?
Make sure the “Statement Descriptor” field during your Stripe Account Setup is something your callers will recognize such as your name or your business name as this is what will show up on their credit card statements.
For example: “John Doe Consulting”.
When am I charged during a call?
Before a call is initiated, a pre-authorization is made with the amount equal to what you would pay the recipient for an hour. At the end of the call, you will automatically be charged the appropriate amount based on the call duration.
My call lasted over 15 seconds but I didn’t earn anything.
If the call ends before reaching $0.50 (e.g., if your rate is $0.10 per minute and the call lasted 4 minutes equaling $0.40), you will not receive any earnings. This is because of Stripe’s flat fee of $0.30 per transaction.
